Tame Impala Charlotte Concert reviews
No one does it like Keith does!!!
Tame Impala is a dang good singer, not only a world class guitar player and song writer, he has the ability to connect with people in a way that I've NEVER seen anyone else do. Whether you're 12 or 65, there was a song for you... from Fun to Adele to The Beatles to The Who. He makes himself available to each and every person in the arena. He read every single sign. He got a spotlight and binoculars so he could read the ones all the way up in the 300's!! No exaggeration. No one personally connects like he does. The way he started the show was so unassuming. He just strolled out on stage, very nonchalantly, all by himself, picked up his banjo, after saying hi, and started playing. One by one, his band members joined him for this little jam and then they went right into the first song. The performance was amazing. He has like 16 #1 hits, so it is hit after hit after hit. But even if you don't know any of his songs and you're there because of someone else, there will always be a song or two that you do know. He kept the energy up for 2 full hours! This was, of course, with a little help from his friends. Eric Church came out and sang their collaboration, Raise 'Em Up, Peter Frampton joined him for a great rendition of The Beatles, Get Back, and while I was hoping for Miranda Lambert to join him for We Were Us, I was in no way disappointed by Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town standing in for her! After those 2 full hours of high energy entertainment, he left the stage for a short break before his encore. The security guy told me he was supposed to do 2 songs. I looked at him and said, he's not doing 2 songs. No way. I thought maybe three...He did 5!!!! He played until 11:30! During the encore, all of which, aside from the very last song, was done with just a piano or guitar, he shared a great moment with the audience by having a Garth Brooks-esque sing along of Raining on Sunday. Oh! And the last song?? You Look Good in My Shirt... he went out into the crowd, played and sang for a minute or two, took off his guitar, signed it and gave it to a young girl in the crowd! If you have never seen him in concert, and you like any of these things... Rocking guitar playing, fun interaction with the crowd, classic songs, number one hits, or a real deal, humble and talented super star, you should probably go see him on his next tour. He is quite simply, a great entertainer!
